About Me

Background

I am a Learning Design and Technology, Training, and Educational Multimedia Professional with work experiences in eLearning, K12 education, higher education, LMS Administration,  audio-visual technologies, multimedia production, management, healthcare, and sports medicine. I am a hard worker with a passion and drive for continuous learning, integrating technology in to learning, using evidence based approaches, educational theory, and learning strategies to better be a resource to those around me and to help build a better and more accessible learning experience for not just instructors, but learners too.

Currently, I serve at the University of South Carolina as an eLearning Consultant where I provide training and troubleshooting support for the LMS (Blackboard), Video Editing and Hosting Software (Panopto), Video Conferencing Software (Zoom) and conduct other LMS System Administrator duties. I also create, update, and facilitate in-person, and virtual workshops and webinars for faculty and TAs on best practices and various aspects of teaching and learning technologies. I also served as an Instructional Designer for the University of South Carolina, Upstate, where I provided educational consulting services and lead the re-design of 15+ courses with a focus on accessibility standards.
Formerly I served at Winthrop University in the Office of Online Learning as the Online Learning and LMS Support Specialist where I provided technical training and troubleshooting support for Blackboard and its integrated software. I also served as an Adjunct Instructor for the College of Education, Sport, and Human Sciences. During this time, I designed and developed accessible and interactive learning activities and instructional materials included, but not limited to course outlines, lesson plans, instructor guides for future instructors, and student manuals to be used in two different course views (Blackboard Original Course View & Ultra Course View). Here I also designed and developed simulations to assist in the maintenance of an online learning environment with a flipped classroom model.

I am also a state certified educator in  Health Science Technology in South Carolina and subject matter expert in Health Science and Sports Medicine. While as a Teacher, I designed and adapted curriculum to be taught in person, hybrid, and fully virtual e-learning settings for 12 different courses with over 200 learners. I also designed in-person, hybrid, and fully virtual e-learning training simulations and skill based formative and summative assessments.

Prior to teaching, I received a Master’s Degree from Winthrop University in Sport and Fitness Administration/Management, where I also served as a Graduate Teaching and Research Assistant. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, I taught in the Basic Instruction Program where I was able to hone in on learning how to teach with accessibility and safety in mind. As a Graduate Research Assistant, my research emphasis was in Education, Program Design/Management, and Marketing. Sub categories of my research emphasis in Education were in Curriculum Development and Instruction, Distance and Online Learning, Adapted Education, and integrating Technology in Motion-Based and Experiential Learning.

Prior to this, I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Medicine (Athletic Training) & Health Education from Winthrop University.  I also have a second master's degree in Learning Design and Technology from Winthrop University.
